Support for the Democrats’ health care reform efforts, has remained steadily dismal since July. According to Rasmussen Reports, support over the last four months has remained between 41% and 46%, with the exception of a few minor fluctuations. Today, only 42% of Americans support health care legislation, backed by President Obama and Congressional Democrats. That number is down three points from just a week ago. Over the summer, members of the House and Senate saw the general lack of support... more
President Obama signs hate crime bill, America returns to Jim Crow era.
Yesterday, President Obama signed the 2010 National Defense Authorization Act into law. The $680 billion appropriation bill was touted as a “must pass” piece of legislation by Senate Democrats, who strategically attached the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, by a vote of 68-29 last week. Many Republicans, normally staunch supporters of defense spending, opposed the bill because it diverts federal funds to local governments, to “combat” hate crimes. The... more
The Transfer of Power
YSP was started as a way to inform young people, to combat an ever-expanding and overbearing federal government. Many YSP readers have only been out from under their parents’ roof for a few years. They’re just getting their first taste of true freedom. But big government ideas and policies threaten that new found freedom everyday. They want to legislate, regulate, and control virtually every aspect of a young person’s life. This often happens indirectly, and is always predicated... more
D-Bag of the Week: Michael M. Crow
Typically, the criteria for “D-Bag of the Week” is a douche, who does something douchey, in the same week the post is written. I guess the title says it all. But we’re going to bend the rules this week. This week’s D-Bag committed his infraction five full months ago. However, it just became apparent today, how major said infraction really was. On May 13th, President Barack Obama delivered the commencement address for Arizona State’s Graduation ceremony. In the days... more
Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize. Seriously.
Bill Clinton must be PISSED. “President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for ‘his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples,’ the Norwegian Nobel Committee said, citing his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation. The stunning choice made Obama the third sitting U.S. president to win the Nobel Peace Prize and shocked Nobel observers because Obama took office less than two weeks... more
D-Bag of the Week: Rep. Mike Honda
Support for the Democrats’ plan to overhaul healthcare is at an all-time low. According to a Rasmussen poll that came out yesterday, only 41% of Americans support Obama Care, while 56% are opposed. This shouldn’t be a surprise to YSP readers, as we’ve showcased the flaws in their proposal since the beginning. Over the past few months, the arguments against Obama Care have been much stronger than the arguments for it. Clearly. The pro argument deficit just got much steeper, thanks... more
Better late than never: Props to the President
I’m about to give Obama credit for something he did three days ago. Now, I know in this business, three days is an eternity. However, I wanted to see how the situation would materialize. So far, I’m very pleased. As many of you know, Barry made a very candid remark about the Kanye West controversy, earlier this week. Unbeknownst to him, a microphone was recording the conversation between the President and a few journalists, during which Barry called Kanye a “jackass.” Ha ha... more
Obama’s radio interview with Michael Smerconish
Thursday, President Obama sat down for an interview with quasi-conservative Michael Smerconish, on his nationally syndicated radio show. One caller asked him “what legislation must include,” in order for him to sign it. She mentioned illegal immigrants and Obama couldn’t get off the subject. In fact, he spent about a minute trying to convince her that covering illegal immigrants was not the goal. The funny thing is… she never said it was. Defensive? Here’s the video: AKPC_IDS... more
Church Politics
Yesterday marked the beginning of a new era in American politics. An era that is already marred by the stench of hypocrisy. It all started with a conference call. On one end: President Obama. On the other: over 1,000 religious leaders from across the country. In revamping their healthcare pitch, the White House thought it wise to use churches and synagogues, as platforms to sell more “change.” Wow, Obama makes Jeremy Piven, of “The Goods,” look like an upstanding salesman!... more
Obama’s self-defeating argument.
Yesterday, at his townhall meeting in New Hampshire, the President fielded some relatively easy questions from the crowd. This townhall was nothing compared to what members of Congress have seen in their districts. As I established in my first post ever, the White House is quite fond of pre-selecting questions. So, I have no doubt that protocol was followed for this event. Nonetheless, one of these “softball” questions, delivered the best sound bite I’ve heard in months. Many, including... more
