A few days ago, I wrote a post on current healthcare reform efforts. More specifically, House bill, H.R. 3200. In that post, I expressed many concerns and exposed several holes in the bill. Two of my biggest concerns, are the fact that private insurance companies would be unable to deny coverage because of pre-existing conditions, and that those companies would have to compete with the federal government. The “Blue Dogs” may have reached an agreement with the more liberal Democrats in the House, but tension and feuds within the Democratic Party are just starting to heat up, and they’ll have the entire month of August to stew. Rep. Maxine Waters, a Democrat from California, was interviewed yesterday on MSNBC. She used the opportunity to throw blame at White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, if you can believe that. House Dems reach a deal on H.R. 3200!

Today, House Democrats reached a deal on America’s Affordable Health Choices Act (H.R. 3200). Mike Ross, leader of the “Blue Dog” conservative coalition, announced that the compromise reached will move the bill to committee by the end of the week. But the House will not actually vote on the bill until September, when they return from the August recess. It’s been over a month since Obama’s first healthcare infomercial on ABC. Last week, we saw the sequel at his primetime press conference. Then, two days later, Rasmussen reported that the President’s Approval Rating dropped to an all-time low. This week, those numbers are even lower. From all indications, it’s quite clear that the American People are not fond of current healthcare reform efforts.
