Because Speaker Pelosi left me no choice, I spent my now very depressing Saturday night watching C-SPAN, in lieu of Florida’s 7th conference win over Vandy. From what I can gather, I didn’t miss much. However, I could’ve caught the USC game and the wildest Arizona State interception ever, if it weren’t for late-night legislation on a Saturday! For those of you that had a decent evening, I’ll recap… Last week, I wrote an update piece on The Affordable Health Care... more
Saturday Showdown
House Democrats don’t seem too concerned with public perception or negative momentum, with regard to their massive health care overhaul. According to the Washington Post, the House will take a vote on the now 2,032 page health care bill, in a rare Saturday evening session, while we’re all watching Florida pummel Vanderbilt… how convenient. The Affordable Health Care for America Act was unveiled by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, just one week ago. At its inception, it was 973 pages... more
Swine-snafu
Support for the Democrats’ health care reform efforts, has remained steadily dismal since July. According to Rasmussen Reports, support over the last four months has remained between 41% and 46%, with the exception of a few minor fluctuations. Today, only 42% of Americans support health care legislation, backed by President Obama and Congressional Democrats. That number is down three points from just a week ago. Over the summer, members of the House and Senate saw the general lack of support... more
Baucus sucks Bauc.
The Democrats’ push for healthcare reform is predicated upon an unfounded sense of urgency. The deadlines set forth by the Obama Administration and Congress are completely contrived. There is no deadline. These people just want to force their healthcare wet dream on the American People, and they want it done yesterday. They would have you believe that if there’s not a government-run “public option” by the end of the month, we’re going to face some sort of Armageddon. Their... more
The nuts who defended ACORN.
James O’Keefe is probably not a name you’re familiar with. However, it’s quickly becoming a household name, as he’s now a cable news fixture. O’Keefe is a 25-year-old filmmaker, who first made headlines in back in 2006, working with a female associate named Lila Rose. O’Keefe had Rose walk into several Planned Parenthood offices, posing as an underage teen, seeking an abortion without her parents’ approval. Planned Parenthood was more than willing to oblige... more
RIP H.R. 3200: The House healthcare bill could be dead.
While many democrats have distanced themselves from the public option included in H.R. 3200, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not. It seems as though she has failed to realize the controversy surrounding it, as she insisted on Tuesday that any healthcare bill passed in the House, MUST include a public option. The same day, House Majority Leader, Steny Hoyer (No. 2 in the House) contradicted Speaker Pelosi. Hoyer said he favors dropping the public option, as he is doubtful that it could actually pass... more
Obama’s radio interview with Michael Smerconish
Thursday, President Obama sat down for an interview with quasi-conservative Michael Smerconish, on his nationally syndicated radio show. One caller asked him “what legislation must include,” in order for him to sign it. She mentioned illegal immigrants and Obama couldn’t get off the subject. In fact, he spent about a minute trying to convince her that covering illegal immigrants was not the goal. The funny thing is… she never said it was. Defensive? Here’s the video: AKPC_IDS... more
Church Politics
Yesterday marked the beginning of a new era in American politics. An era that is already marred by the stench of hypocrisy. It all started with a conference call. On one end: President Obama. On the other: over 1,000 religious leaders from across the country. In revamping their healthcare pitch, the White House thought it wise to use churches and synagogues, as platforms to sell more “change.” Wow, Obama makes Jeremy Piven, of “The Goods,” look like an upstanding salesman!... more
Big Brother: The White House Healthcare Police strike again!
Until today, I thought I had seen it all. I thought I had seen the extent of the deplorable tactics the White House is willing to employ. I thought the government had grown so big and bloated, that we would soon see the end of this trend. I thought the crowds of angry people, screaming at their Representatives, would be the pin that popped the balloon. I thought that organic hostility would put this big-government bureaucracy in-check. Wow, was I wrong! This has gone from President Obama, sounding... more
D-Bag of the Week: Rep. John Conyers
This week’s winner, won in a landslide. There were no other candidates that even came close. I didn’t even have to think in awarding Rep. John Conyers of Michigan. Earlier this week, the democratic Congressman spoke at a National Press Club luncheon. In reference to H.R. 3200, Rep. Conyers said this: “What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?” Now, I don’t... more
