Last week, Rock the Vote released a YouTube video encouraging young people to use sex in the debate over health care reform. The video features Eva Amurri of Californication and Zach Gilford of Friday Night Lights, who advocate flirting, lying, and even withholding sex from people who don’t support current health care reform efforts! The video ends with both actors asking viewers to join them in a pledge to “never, ever f*ck” anyone who opposes Rock the Vote’s stance on... more

D-Bag of the Week: The Democratic Senator
It’s no secret that Democrats are doing all they can to ram their health care bill through the Senate. The Obama administration has invested a ton of political capital, in a promise to reform health care by year’s end. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the pressure is on for members of the President’s party. Harry Reid has repeatedly stated his plan to vote on health care by Christmas. The Associated Press reported yesterday that the Majority Leader will likely meet his deadline,... more
Re-punk-licans
Because Speaker Pelosi left me no choice, I spent my now very depressing Saturday night watching C-SPAN, in lieu of Florida’s 7th conference win over Vandy. From what I can gather, I didn’t miss much. However, I could’ve caught the USC game and the wildest Arizona State interception ever, if it weren’t for late-night legislation on a Saturday! For those of you that had a decent evening, I’ll recap… Last week, I wrote an update piece on The Affordable Health Care... more
Saturday Showdown
House Democrats don’t seem too concerned with public perception or negative momentum, with regard to their massive health care overhaul. According to the Washington Post, the House will take a vote on the now 2,032 page health care bill, in a rare Saturday evening session, while we’re all watching Florida pummel Vanderbilt… how convenient. The Affordable Health Care for America Act was unveiled by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, just one week ago. At its inception, it was 973 pages... more
Swine-snafu
Support for the Democrats’ health care reform efforts, has remained steadily dismal since July. According to Rasmussen Reports, support over the last four months has remained between 41% and 46%, with the exception of a few minor fluctuations. Today, only 42% of Americans support health care legislation, backed by President Obama and Congressional Democrats. That number is down three points from just a week ago. Over the summer, members of the House and Senate saw the general lack of support... more
Maxine Waters blames Rahm Emanuel for healthcare stall.
The “Blue Dogs” may have reached an agreement with the more liberal Democrats in the House, but tension and feuds within the Democratic Party are just starting to heat up, and they’ll have the entire month of August to stew. Rep. Maxine Waters, a Democrat from California, was interviewed yesterday on MSNBC. She used the opportunity to throw blame at White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, if you can believe that. Ha ha ha, Rep. Waters is really grabbing for grass with this theory.... more
House Dems reach a deal on H.R. 3200!
Today, House Democrats reached a deal on America’s Affordable Health Choices Act (H.R. 3200). Mike Ross, leader of the “Blue Dog” conservative coalition, announced that the compromise reached will move the bill to committee by the end of the week. But the House will not actually vote on the bill until September, when they return from the August recess. That gives all YSP readers time to learn more about this bill, and contact their representatives. They’re going to be home,... more
Health-scare Legislation
It’s been over a month since Obama’s first healthcare infomercial on ABC. Last week, we saw the sequel at his primetime press conference. Then, two days later, Rasmussen reported that the President’s Approval Rating dropped to an all-time low. This week, those numbers are even lower. From all indications, it’s quite clear that the American People are not fond of current healthcare reform efforts. According to Gallup, only 41% of Americans feel that we need to pass healthcare... more
The All Barack Channel
On June 2nd and 3rd, NBC enjoyed phenomenal ratings of over 9 million viewers, for both installments of “Inside the Obama White House” with Brian Williams. On June 24th, ABC will air a special of its own from the White House, detailing the Obama health care plan. The focal point will be a one-hour special in the now infamous “town hall” format, that became so popular on the 2008 campaign trail. In addition, ABC’s Good Morning America, World News, Nightline, and web news... more
