Support for the Democrats’ plan to overhaul healthcare is at an all-time low. According to a Rasmussen poll that came out yesterday, only 41% of Americans support Obama Care, while 56% are opposed. This shouldn’t be a surprise to YSP readers, as we’ve showcased the flaws in their proposal since the beginning. Over the past few months, the arguments against Obama Care have been much stronger than the arguments for it. Clearly. The pro argument deficit just got much steeper, thanks... more
What is an indie-mod?
We live in a polarized world. We are totally preoccupied with opposites and contrast. We root for the Yankees OR the Red Sox. We’re partial to vanilla OR chocolate. We vote Democrat OR Republican. Yin and yang, hot and cold, day and night, somehow we can’t escape polarity. We, as humans, are too loyal to agree with both sides of any argument. You may ask yourself: Why does there have to be an argument to begin with? Well, that’s the very nature of controversy. Every issue inherently... more
D-Bag of the Week: Maurice Schwenkler
My apologies YSPers. I know I haven’t posted a “D-Bag of the Week” in almost a month and I’m sorry. I’ve been too wrapped-up in the healthcare debate to be petty. Maybe you should consider a new haircut… when you get out of jail that is. Yesterday, this guy vandalized the... more
House Dems reach a deal on H.R. 3200!
Today, House Democrats reached a deal on America’s Affordable Health Choices Act (H.R. 3200). Mike Ross, leader of the “Blue Dog” conservative coalition, announced that the compromise reached will move the bill to committee by the end of the week. But the House will not actually vote on the bill until September, when they return from the August recess. That gives all YSP readers time to learn more about this bill, and contact their representatives. They’re going to be home,... more
The perks of a politician.
Payday is wonderful. It’s a mini-Christmas every two weeks. Many times, it’s a complete surprise, as you’re not exactly sure what you’re going to get. Maybe you skimped on your hours, or worked a ton of overtime. Maybe you hit bonus, or just missed it. Maybe you made a ton of sales, or didn’t make any. Or maybe you’re on salary, so your pay doesn’t fluctuate at all. Whatever the case, the walk to HR or your boss’ office, is extremely exciting. I call... more
