Remember when Obama was trying to sell us on the stimulus bill? Better known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act? Kind of the way he’s trying to sell us on healthcare? He preached all kinds of doom and gloom, about what would happen if we didn’t pass the bill. That was back when America’s love affair with Barry was still in the first flush. Many bought into the fear mongering and it passed. But… remember during his campaign, when Barry ran on “transparency?” Well, I don’t want to say he broke a campaign promise… but that philosophy definitely did not come into play with regard to the stimulus bill.
We still don’t really know where all the stimulus funds are going, or how much has been spent. Information on the bill continues to trickle-in, as the bill was really just about creating a huge slush fund for special interests. This program has very little oversight and even less accountability.
A few days ago, it was discovered that the NIH (National Institutes of Health) was granted billions in stimulus funds, to conduct a series of studies that are not stimulus-worthy. What I mean is, this bill was SUPPOSEDLY written to stimulate the economy and create jobs. The money was supposed to be a government hand-out to small businesses, in an effort to retain employees etc. Now, I still think even that idea was incredibly retarded. It was just plain bad economics. Nonetheless, the monster it’s become is far worse.
Some of the studies the NIH is conducting with these funds include $246k to research the correlation between cocaine and “risky sex.” $235k to research the correlation between drugs and HIV among Latino migrants. $219k to research “hookups” at state universities. And $464k to study the correlation between multiple partners and HIV.
After the news broke, Neil Cavuto discussed it on “Your World.” His guest, Sari Locker, argued that these funds were a very small portion of the stimulus bill, therefore justifiable. My ass Sari. It doesn’t really matter how much it is. The point is, that’s not what this money was supposed to be spent on. We were sold on the stimulation of the economy and we got a bunch of data on college kids stimulating each other. To her credit, Sari acknowledged that she does see the problem at the end of the video.
Neil makes some pretty good points in the video. One of which is the fact that no study need be done on the correlation between drinking and sex. Of course drinking helps you get laid! Every frat house in the country knows that. To all my college readers: If Obama wasn’t wasting your parents’ money on this sort of “research,” they’d probably be able to send you more money, so you could do your own “research.”
I can’t say this enough… THIS IS HOW THE GOVERNMENT DOES THINGS! Why should we trust them on healthcare?
Here’s the exchange between Neil and Sari:

[...] by now!” There’s no way of knowing what would, or would not have happened. And with how the stimulus money is being spent, I would venture to say we’d be better off, had we NOT passed the bill. Although I [...]
