Last week, Rock the Vote released a YouTube video encouraging young people to use sex in the debate over health care reform. The video features Eva Amurri of Californication and Zach Gilford of Friday Night Lights, who advocate flirting, lying, and even withholding sex from people who don’t support current health care reform efforts! The video ends with both actors asking viewers to join them in a pledge to “never, ever f*ck” anyone who opposes Rock the Vote’s stance on... more
Cock the Vote: Sex in the health care debate.
You Can’t Please Everyone.
Editor’s notes: Not that this is a surprise to ANYONE, but apparently Michael Moore is a drinking buddy of Hugo Chávez. Moore-over, he apparently helped write the anti-American rant Chávez gave at the UN. Wow, WTF? When is Hollywood going to get its collective head out of its ass? Who knows? But until then, here’s what E.M. has to say: If you have a story about how you got trashed on tequila with Hugo Chávez, its really best to keep it to yourself. Michael Moore, the filmmaker who is a... more
The Letterman nonscandal scandal
Minus the extortion attempt and the presumable tumult at home, David Letterman has exactly what he wants: a national spotlight and a huge ratings boost. And he didn’t even have to fawn obsequiously over a sitting President to get it. He did, however, have to admit to cavorting all over town (and in the secret love shack above the Ed Sullivan Theater, apparently) with various staffers years ago. Even though he wasn’t married at the time, it’s still a pretty unseemly scene - a wildly... more
Moore madness: “Capitalism did nothing for me.”
YSP readers know I’ve critcized him before, but the gross exaggerations of “Sicko,” are nothing compared to the outrageous statements Michael Moore made earlier this week. On Tuesday night, at a red carpet event for his new film “Capitalism: A Love Story,” Moore was asked a fair question by Nicholas Ballasy of CNS News. Ballasy basically stated the obvious, by pointing out that Moore has faired quite well under a capitalist system. According to Fortune Magazine,... more
It Wasn’t “Rape-Rape…”
Just a drugged, unconscious 13-year old girl who was repeatedly violated against her will, by a 43 year old man. This morning on The View, the ladies took it upon themselves to untangle the Roman Polanski affair, because that’s their job. In the process, we learned about Whoopi’s strange and fascinating moral universe, which includes the concept of “rape-rape.” First: there probably aren’t two people out there who have studied this case and agree exactly on what should... more
D-Bag of the Week: Rookie LB Robert Henson
Like many of you, I spent my Sunday watching football. I got to see my Broncos go 2-0. I got to see the Ravens beat the Chargers, to put Denver atop the AFC West. I even got to see the thriller that was Giants vs. Cowboys. One game I did not see however was Rams at Redskins. Judging from the score, I didn’t miss much. The Redskins were barely able to grind-out a win over the Rams, winning 9-7. However dismal the actual game play was, there was plenty of drama that unfolded after the game, and... more
Better late than never: Props to the President
I’m about to give Obama credit for something he did three days ago. Now, I know in this business, three days is an eternity. However, I wanted to see how the situation would materialize. So far, I’m very pleased. As many of you know, Barry made a very candid remark about the Kanye West controversy, earlier this week. Unbeknownst to him, a microphone was recording the conversation between the President and a few journalists, during which Barry called Kanye a “jackass.” Ha ha... more
D-Bag of the Week: Kanye West
To anyone who watched the VMAs last night, this week’s “Baggy” winner will come as no surprise. After winning “Best Female Video” for “You Belong To Me,” Taylor Swift was ambushed by a drunk Kanye West. While thanking her fans, Swift had the microphone yanked from her hands by West. He then went on a rant about Beyoncé, alluding to the fact that she should have won by saying “Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!” Kanye was then booed... more
D-Bag of the Week: Oliver Stone
Don’t get me wrong… I love “Natural Born Killers” and “Wall Street.” Who doesn’t? But a few good movies don’t grant Oliver Stone immunity from winning a “Baggy”. Yesterday, Stone debuted his new film, “South of the Border” at the Venice Film Festival. The film takes a “behind the scenes” look at Venezuelan dictator… oops, President Hugo Chávez, who joined Stone in Venice. In the film, Stone tries to transform... more
Chris Brown ordered to clean-up graffiti.
Two days ago, Chris Brown was sentenced in a Los Angeles court room, for the savage beating of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. The same day, the court released the official police report from the incident, which can be read here. The police report goes into GRAPHIC detail about the beating. The amount of times Chris Brown punched Rihanna, is staggering. From the report, it sounds like he attacked her for 10 minutes straight. A few times, the violence became very gruesome, as Brown slammed Rihanna’s... more
